Datblygwyd y dechneg ‘Awtomatiaeth Swrrealaidd’ neu ‘Lluniadu Awtomatig’ yn ystod mudiad Swrrealaidd, a ddechreuodd yn y 1920au cynnar. Cafodd rheolaeth ei diystyru, gan ganiatau’n rhydd i’r gwaith llaw a gwneud marciau ‘fynegi’r isymwybodol’ heb ystyried ansawdd. Gan gymryd rhan yn yr ymarfer o ‘Llif’, mae’r dull seicolegol o ymgolli i arferion o’r fath yn caniatau rhyddid mynegiant llwyr yn ogystal ag ymgysylltu a meddwl isymwybodol ac ymddygiadau eraill.

The technique, ‘Surrealist Automatism’ or ‘Automatic Drawing’ was developed during the Surrealist movement, originating in the early 1920s. Control was disregarded, freely allowing the hand and mark making to ‘express the subconscious’ without consideration of quality. Engaging in the practice of ‘Flow’, The psychological approach of fully immersing into such practices allow total freedom of expression as well as engaging subconscious thought and other behaviours.
